I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the run. I assume all risks associated with running this event including, but limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and know these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Central Maine Striders Club, City or Town officials, race directors and all sponsors, their representatives and successors for all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons name in this waiver.

USA Masters Track & Field Championships Entry Deadline is Today FRiday 20 July

 

With over 900 athletes have already entered for this year’s USA Masters Outdoor Track & Field Championships the meet proves to be a great event with many of the athletes using the meet to prep for the World Masters Athletics Championships later in the summer in , Italy.  The championships are being held in Orono, Maine (August 2-5) for the third time.

 

The deadline for entering the championships is today (Friday, July 20) at 11:59 P.M. ET.

ST. GEORGE (July 11): The St. George Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Marshall Point Lighthouse Loop, a 5-kilometer road race that is part of the St. George Days celebration.

The 5K, and free children's one-mile fun run, will be held on Saturday, July 21 at 8:30 a.m. The fun run will begin at 8:25 a.m.

The scenic 5K course on the St. George peninsula begins off Route 131 in Port Clyde at the Drift Inn Beach. The course proceeds to the Marshall Point Lighthouse, featured in the movie "Forrest Gump," starring Tom Hanks, through the village of Port Clyde and finishes at the Drift Inn Beach.

T-shirts will be given to the first 75 who register. Prizes will be awarded for first place in each age group. The advanced registration fee is $13. Registration on race day will be $15.

Race applications for runners or walkers are available at the St. George Town Office as well as on the town's website at stgeorgemaine.com. Proceeds will benefit the St. George Parks and Recreation Department Boosters.

A pancake breakfast, which begins at 7 a.m., is available for purchase prior to the road race.

The St. George Days parade will be at 11 a.m. followed by a daylong celebration featuring food, touch tanks, book sales, auctions, a dunk tank, raffles and music.

The night concludes with fireworks at 9 p.m. over Tenants Harbor.

Washington Days 5K road race July 28

WASHINGTON (July 12): The Washington Recreation Committee will sponsor a 5-kilometer road race on Saturday, July 28 as part of its Washington Days celebration. The race begins at 8:30 a.m.

Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. at Prescott Memorial School on Route 220 in Washington. The entry fee is $5, and includes a T-shirt. Medals will go to the winners in several age divisions.

1 Mile (ages 15 and under) starts at 6:00 pm on High Street next to Kineowatha Park

 

10K starts at 6:30 pm on High Street on crest of hill near downtown Wilton

 

Registration at Wiles Funeral Home parking lot (High Street) at 5:00 pm

 

$12 for 10K ($14 race day) and $10 for 1 mile (checks payable to: Blueberry Festival)

 

Prizes in several age categories for both races

 

T-shirts for pre-registered and while supplies last
