Freeport Race 2008-08-31

The small group picture of five runners our Unum group of three and we added  Jerry LeVasseur who runs in the corporate league for BIW. The one on
the far end is the Nike rep not sure I think it BJ? I was hope to get
one with Joan but she showed up for the group picture.

Nike's Human Race on Sunday, August 31, 2008 with a goal of 1 million runner's on one day was featured a race organized by Tammy Heathco in Freeport, with a group run over the LL Bean 10K course @ 8am. The Group was to meet at Starbuck's in Freeport. Caffine and water was available prior to the run. There was a water stop at 3 miles. This was a group run, not a race.... All had a great time!!! The idea was to Celebrate the Human Race!

Joshua Tardif is of Carivou, Maine. He is the nephew of David Colby Young so that might be why he gets a little more coverage for his efforts.

Well, Blaine Moore is so on  top of things.  Everyone should read his blog "Run to Win"

We note (Blaine Moore) reported the following:

"WCSH6 has full video coverage of the race, including 5 minute videos that show everybody coming across the line. I picked out my wife’s finish and you can clearly see her disgust with her time after she crosses the line and checked her watch. "

Now DCY writes:

I know I should have just broke it down into 5 minute blocks. Just how many people are going to watch all 5000+ finishers past by the 5 mile mark?  Did I miss a runner?  Yes, I missed a few as my tape was only 61 minutes long and I had to change tapes. I did not have a backup camera setup.  I also did not wait until the last finisher past the five mile marker.
