We had heard via Dennis Morrill that that the Portland Boys and Girls Club is thinking of holding the 5 Miler which was postponed to be run on Veterans Day,
Monday, November 12. Not sure about what time or any additional details.
We can only wait and hope the word gets out.

Join the fun! Run or walk along the Kennebec River and support the Kennebec Messalonskee Trail's vision of scenic trails connecting Waterville, Fairfield, Benton, Winslow, and Oakland for the enjoyment of walkers, runners, and cyclists.
Course: 5 km. (3.1 mi.) starting at the Fairfield Bridge over the Kennebec River
and onto the fast & flat Rotary Centennial Trail, out & back.

Poland High School Road Race (getting out the word)
Poland High School to hold Road Race :
It is always interesting to see how a race committee selects which media they use to get the word out about their event. As of Oct 4th, The Lewiston Sun-Journal (Androscoggin County & Oxford County) and the Sub5 Web site (Penobscot County) being the only outside media being used. I am sure that the Poland/Mechanic Fall/Minot school system has a good network to get the word out also.

Well, you can also add this blog as a form of media. All the information which has been posted was not requested to be posted by the race committee. Not at all sure the number of runners this blog will reach before Sat the 6 of Oct. The race information looks as if there will be no age group award but there might be an award for perhaps the first male & female finsihers. You might say the I am in the Dark about the Light for Knight 5K.

Poland Regional High School
$10 in advance --- $15 day of the race
Prizes for the top runners --- Race t-shirt for the first 50 to register
All Proceeds go to help Light the Knights
Registration, check-in and number pick-up begins at 7 a.m. the day of the race in PRHS Lobby. Race time is 9:00 a.m.
Cut off for registration by mail is September 29. Racers may continue to register by dropping registrations in the Co-curricular office or register the day of the race. Parking will be available in the faculty and student parking lots on campus.
The course will feature a 5K loop beginning at the PRHS entrance and finishing at the Poland Regional High School Track. Runners will run down Rt. 26, turn onto Tripp Lake Rd., intersecting with Bakerstown Rd. and finishing at PRHS Rt.11 parking lot.

I assume all risks associated with running this event including, but not limited to, falls, contact with other runners, the effects of weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic, the conditions of trails, allsuch risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I for myself and anyone acting on my behalf, waive and release to Poland Light the Knights, Poland Regional High School, Knight’s Pride Boosters, and all sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I hereby grant full permission to any and all of the above parties to use any photographs, videotapes, or any other record of this event.
