The Maine Track Club Wins the RRCA Club/Event E-Newsletter

NewsRun named best e-newsletter

For the second year in a row, the Maine Track Club newsletter has received a national award from the Road Runners Club of America. NewsRun was ineligible for the regular newsletter category after being chosen as the best Small/Medium Club Newsletter in 2005, but outgoing NewsRun editor Sandy Walton collected a brand new award -- the inaugural Electronic Newsletter Award. The award will be presented at the 50th annual RRCA national convention, to be held March 21-25 in Chicago.

Visit the RRCA Web site for a complete list of award winners.

RRCA AWARDS Club/Event E-Newsletter:
New for 2006, this award recognizes use of technology in communicating with members. It is open to any size club or event. The e-newsletter can be emailed to members or clearly posted on a website and should be in PDF or HTML format. The e-newsletter should look like a newsletter and not simply be a page on a club website. When printed, it should look like a newsletter suitable for mailing. For an example, review the RRCA e-magazine, FOOTNOTES.

I wanted to let everyone know that I just received in the mail the following letter from Road Runners Club of America !

Dear Sandy Walton of the Maine Track Club,

Congratulations! You’ve been selected for the RRCA E-Newsletter Award. Each year we are thrilled to see the nominations of those who give back to the sport of running through their time and talent.  We are pleased to recognize you as the National Award Winner for the RRCA E-Newsletter Award, given to recognize the outstanding club e-newsletter of the year. We look forward to presenting the award to you at the RRCA Annual Banquet, Saturday, March 24th in Chicago, IL. You will have the opportunity to thank attendees, please keep your remarks to one to two minutes.

To facilitate your travel, we will reimburse you up to $400 and provide a ticket to the Awards Banquet. [She goes on to give info about the convention and discounts associated with the convention.]

This year the RRCA’s convention is celebrating its 50th gathering and promises to be a wonderful experience as we come together to celebrate the continued growth of grassroots running. I would encourage you to register for the entire convention, attend the seminars, participate in the early morning runs and the 28th Annual LaSalle Bank Shamrock Shuffle 8K on Sunday morning, bid at the auctions, and enjoy all the festivities. We look forward to seeing you and honoring your accomplishments at the Awards Banquet Saturday evening. It is through individuals like yourself that the grassroots running continues to grow.

Congratulations and we look forward to seeing you March 21-25th in Chicago, IL.

Sincerely,

Jean Knaack

Executive Director

(N.B.  This is great news for Sandy Walton.  Congrats to her and all the members of the Maine Track Club.  If you are not already a member of the Maine Track club perhaps you should ask how you might join today?  You just do not know what you are missing.)
