Day Five of the National Sr Games
Sorry I did not get to get any photos of the 50 to 59 year old males who where doing the race walk.
My wife went to cover the largest senior workout lead by Richard Simmons.
click on the image to the left. It is a link to over 300 photos. You can view them online as a guest of AOL.
I will have to check to see it I have a PR in the 1500 meter racewalk. No ribbon this year but my time at nationals was 12:22 in 2005. I still finished in the top ten in my age group with a much faster time.

Maine USATF Race # 3 of the Maine Grand Prix Series
The Maine Grand Prix races series is open to all Maine Runners who are members of the USATF. You can run for a New England USATF teams as long as you live in Maine.
The series is free but you have to a member in good standing for 2007 in the USATF and if you want to score for your club team, the club needs to be a member of the USATF also.
A list of Maine clubs can be found on the Maine USATF web site.
http://www.meusatf.org/clubs/clubs.htm
I saw many "Run to Win" singlets but "Run to Win" is not a Maine USATF member for 2007 so if you want to have your points to count it would be best to become part of one of the Maine teams listed at http://www.meusatf.org/clubs/clubs.htm
Not to pick on the club "Run to Win" but with so many people wearing the Run to Win colors, I was thinking we had four teams in the Maine Grand Prix. If Run to Win is a USATF member I hope that someone would be so kind to send me their USATF membership number and a list of their roster so we can make sure their points are counted. Please remember that the runners also have to join the USATF to get all the benefits. Some clubs will pay both parts of the USATF dues. You need to ask what the policy is.
Or you could join one of the New England USATF teams. It is great that many clubs all showed off their team pride but it would be even better if they might became part of the USATF and then compete against the other Maine Clubs as well as runners in their same age group..
It is all about bragging rights, having fun and making clubs stronger in Maine.
Sincerely,
David Colby Young, Maine Track Club

(Penta Photo)
Thomas McLaughlin | & Rae Chalmers of Gorham, Maine |
It was reported last week by President Mark Grandonico... "Pleased to announce that Tom and Rae McLaughlin have stepped up to the plate and are transitioning into the job. Thank You Again. On the "going green issue". I have heard from a lot of people. The majority said yes, but a large group also said they prefer the hardcopy. I completely understand and respect that. The Board will discuss a plan to cover both bases next Tuesday at our June meeting."
I am sure someone will be posting contact information soon so everyone will know where to send their news articles,
Tom McLaughlin and his wife Rae Chalmers are currently working on the

Attention Maine Track Club Members - Grand Prix 2007
Blaine Moore on this Run toWin Blog this week said:
Maine Grand Prix continues next week with the New England Mile
The Maine Grand Prix continues a week from Sunday with the New England Mile. Please remember that you must have a valid USATF membership before the start of the race in order to keep your scores from earlier races or for the mile. Otherwise, you will only be eligible to score in races after you have renewed or begun your membership.
Scoring after two events is now available. The first two races in the Grand Prix were the Mid-Winter Classic 10 Miler and the Mother’s Day 5k. Ethan Hemphill and Sheri McCarthy-Piers both lead the open divisions with 19 points and have a 3 point lead over second place. Dirigo R.C. is leading both open team competitions.
The next race is the New England Mile on June 17th in downtown Portland. There is a father/son and father/daughter competition this year, and as always there is free ice cream at the finish line.
